EVENING RAIN

This evening the rain finally came down. Rain had no chance of stopping myself and the girls from playing on the patio. Lexie ran around crazily while Courtney danced in the rain. It was great. And to finish the evening a rainbow appeared to the delight of Alexis.

A DAY IN RIVERSIDE

Today I visited a Frederick Law Olmsted community. Riverside, Illinois. I was amazed by the architecture of the library and the Village Hall. The detail is well thought out and immaculate. The curvature of the roads surprised me as well. Hundreds of vehicles flowing effortlessly through the community, even the bustling downtown are adjacent to the Metra station. Also, I liked the one room old-fashioned barber shop that is situated on the platform of the Metra station. The utility of the open green spaces was great. Children playing at the parks, joggers, bicyclists, and even a few guys playing catch. No space seemed to be unused. Time has obviously changed to neighborhoods look and feel in places, but that is expected. Quite a joy to see a planned community from 1869.
